If any person desires to become an egg donor, she must be able to conceptualize the whole process logically and make sure that she is practical enough to go through all the legal procedures that are involved in the process of egg donation. She has to pass through many medical visits before she is accepted by the egg donation agency as an Egg donor. These frequent visits will comprise of a check-up of the person, physical and gynecological. Besides these, the agency will also get details about the family history, her medical background, urine and blood tests and her record of psychological evolution.
If a person wants to become an egg donor, she will have to discuss her responsibilities and rights with the program representative of that agency. A donor must know that an egg donation will not occur if the party at the other end accepts all the details of the donor. The donor must match with the recipient to whom the donated eggs will be artificially inseminated. Consent of both the parties is required to have a successful process of Egg donation simultaneously with fertilization and artificial insemination.
In vitro fertilization is required in the case of acquiring pregnancy with egg donation. For this, the Egg donors have to go through an elaborate treatment with fertility drugs for a certain period. These drugs are taken to stimulate the formation of more eggs in the ovaries of the donor. Removal of the eggs from the donor requires a minor surgical procedure; however as soon as the surgery is over, the donor has no more roles to play in the process. The eggs are then fertilized and implanted in the biological mother’s womb.
